BlurFaces ("App") is provided by Hamza Canbaz ("we," "our," or "us").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use BlurFaces.
1. Introduction
BlurFaces lets you import photos and videos, detect faces, apply blur, mosaic, or emoji masks, and export the
edited result. BlurFaces is designed to process face detection and masking locally on your device rather than by
uploading your media to our servers for cloud editing.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Media You Choose to Import: Photos and videos you explicitly select through Apple's
system picker.
- Editing and Mask Data: Face regions, tracking data, thumbnails, mask positions, selected
styles, and related project state created on-device so you can review and edit results.
- Local Drafts and Export History: Imported working files, saved drafts, exported files, and
local metadata such as creation date, duration, and masked face count.
- Anonymous Account Information: An anonymous Firebase Authentication user ID and a related
Firestore user record containing your anonymous UID, creation timestamp, and device platform.
- Usage and Diagnostics Data: Analytics events such as app launch, onboarding completion,
import and export events, save and share actions, settings access, subscription actions, and certain error
information.
- Purchase and Subscription Information: Subscription status, entitlement status, product
identifiers, and transaction-related information provided by Apple and RevenueCat. We do not receive your
full payment card details.
- Support Information: Information you provide if you contact support, including your email
contents and, if included, your anonymous user ID and device details.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information in the following ways:
- Directly from You: When you select media, edit masks, export results, save to Photos,
share content, make a purchase, restore purchases, or contact support.
- Automatically Through the App: When the App records analytics, diagnostics, anonymous
authentication state, and subscription status.
- From Service Providers: When Apple, Firebase, and RevenueCat provide purchase,
subscription, authentication, or infrastructure-related information needed to operate the App.
4. How We Use Information
We use information for the following purposes:
- To let you import, analyze, edit, export, save, and share photos and videos.
- To create and store local drafts, previews, and export history on your device.
- To create and maintain an anonymous account record used for app functionality.
- To provide subscriptions, restore purchases, and verify premium access.
- To measure app usage, diagnose failures, improve performance, and understand feature adoption.
- To respond to support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, users, and services.
5. On-Device Processing
BlurFaces is built to keep core media processing on your device:
- Face Detection and Tracking: Face detection, tracking, and mask rendering are performed on
the device using Apple's on-device frameworks and local processing.
- No Cloud Editing Pipeline for Media: The photos and videos you select for editing are not
uploaded to our servers for face detection, tracking, or blur rendering.
- Local Storage of Working Data: Draft media files, face thumbnails, editable mask data, and
exported results may be stored locally in the App's container on your device until you remove them or
delete the App.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with the following categories of recipients:
- Firebase: For anonymous authentication, Firestore user records, and analytics.
- RevenueCat: For subscription and purchase management.
- Apple: For system media access, photo library saving, in-app purchases, and payment
processing.
- Sharing Destinations Chosen by You: If you use the iOS share sheet, the selected app or
service will process the shared file under its own privacy policy.
- Legal or Safety Reasons: If required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights,
users, systems, or services.
We do not use the App to serve third-party advertising, and we do not upload your selected media to our
backend for face detection, tracking, or masking.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
- Local Media and Drafts: Stored on your device until you delete them in the App, remove the
App, or otherwise clear local storage.
- Export History: Stored locally on your device until deleted by you or cleared in the App's
settings.
- Anonymous Account Records: Anonymous Firebase and Firestore records may remain in our
systems until deleted, no longer needed, or removed under our data management practices.
- Analytics and Purchase Data: Retained by us and our service providers for operational,
diagnostic, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal purposes, subject to their retention practices.
- Support Communications: Retained as needed to respond to and manage support issues.
8. Your Choices
- Media Access: You choose which photos or videos to import through Apple's picker.
- Save to Photos Permission: The App requests photo library add-only access only if you ask
to save an edited result to your photo library.
- Local Deletion: You can clear recent exports and drafts from within the App.
- Sharing: You decide whether to share exported files with other apps or services.
- Support Contact: You decide whether to contact us by email.
The current version of BlurFaces does not request camera or microphone access.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information.
However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
BlurFaces is not directed specifically to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal
information to us in a way that requires removal, please contact us.
11. International Data Transfers
Our service providers, such as Firebase, RevenueCat, and Apple, may process information in countries other than
your own. By using the App, you understand that relevant information may be processed and stored in other
jurisdictions subject to applicable law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date above. Your
continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
